What you will be doing

We are seeking an experienced senior accountant with 3-5 years of experience in a similar role within a mid-sized international company to join our Finance team in Brussels. The ideal candidate will have a passion for diverse accounting tasks, 

The day-to-day tasks of the role will include but are not limited to:

• Perform all the periodic closing activities/reporting linked to the Accounting from A to Z: make the necessary journal entrees, salary posting and reconciliation, balance sheet accounts reconciliations, perform ICO matching etc.
• Provide leadership, coaching and development to the junior accountant 
• Prepare Cash Flow Forecasts and make variance analysis
• Review and execute payments 
• Be responsible for all of the Belgian Governmental declarations linked to the accounting including like VAT, Intrastat, Annual accounts.
• Being the main point of contact for the auditors and doing the coordination and follow up of open items with finance colleagues
• Implement process and system optimisations (including digitalisation)
• Take on other reasonable duties as agreed with the manager

What we will need from you

You will be: 

• Strong in Governmental Declarations: Experienced in handling all Belgian governmental declarations related to accounting, such as VAT, Intrastat, and annual accounts.
• Analytical Accounting Skills: Familiar with working within an analytical accounting framework and a Chart of Accounts different from Belgian GAAP.
• Experience in BE GAAP and Fiscal Matters: Brings practical experience in BE GAAP and fiscal matters, particularly VAT and corporate tax.

You will also be a quick learner who can work accurately and autonomously. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, capable of open and transparent communication, and a team player who is eager to learn and also lead colleagues. 

You will have:

• Strong communication skills both written and verbal in English and Dutch 
• A Bachelor degree in Accounting or equivalent experience 
• Good practical knowledge of excel
• Experience with process/system improvements and having the necessary mindset
• Experience with working in an ERP environment (Unit 4 is a plus)
