Senior Research Manager - UK Social Policy

What you will be doing:

We are looking to recruit a Senior Research Manager (SRM) to work principally on projects for our UK clients, who include central and local government along with a range of voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations. Working within our Policy and Research team, you will support our work across a range of policy areas. Depending on your specialism and thematic interests, these may include education, employment and labour markets, children, young people and families, financial inclusion, crime and justice, or health and well-being.

As a Senior Research Manager you can expect to:

  • Provide highly skilled research and evaluation expertise in one or more of our core policy areas
  • Manage medium to large-sized research projects, controlling budgets and timescales and overseeing teams of other researchers and experts.
  • Work with a range of UK policy clients, with the opportunity to apply your skills across European or international work
  • Utilise core technical research skills to design and oversee policy evaluations, using research designs appropriate to the intervention. This will involve a variety of primary, secondary, quantitative research methods
  • Develop, design, and explain research and evaluation methodologies and types of analysis, justify conclusions, and present the results to the target audience in a range of ways
  • Collect, analyse, interpret, and present complex qualitative and quantitative data
  • Contribute to expanding our work, leading proposals for new work, and helping to grow the company's portfolio of international projects and network of experts.

What we will need from you:

  • Experience in the development and delivery of evaluation or research in UK public policy
  • Good commercial awareness, with experience in winning new projects or research
  • Capability in stakeholder management and building and maintaining client relationships
  • Experience of managing multidisciplinary and multicultural research teams (including academic and specialist partners).
  • An excellent level of written English and strong presentation skills are essential.

Due to the nature of research, this role requires a DBS check.

Our team of 100+ researchers is based across our offices in Birmingham, London, Leeds, and Brussels. Our team works in a hybrid way flexing between home and the office as needed. You can choose to work flexibly with the opportunity to travel into one of our UK offices when required.
