Junior Evaluation Officer – European Evaluation Helpdesk for the CAP

Are you passionate about  the evaluation of  EU policies, agriculture, and evidence-based decision-making? Join us at the European Evaluation Helpdesk for the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) - a platform that supports evaluation activities across all EU Member States.

Commissioned by DG Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Commission, the Evaluation Helpdesk develops methodological guidance, facilitates knowledge exchange, maintains evaluation databases, and organises expert meetings and workshops across the EU Member States. The Evaluation Helpdesk is run by a consortium led by Ecorys, a leading European consultancy.

We are looking for a Junior Evaluation Officer to join our small, international team of evaluation experts based in Brussels. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated early-career professional to deepen their understanding of EU policies and evaluation methodologies while contributing to a high-profile project.

The role will include but is not limited to:

  • Supporting senior experts in organising Thematic Working Groups that develop guidance and tools on evaluating CAP interventions.
  • Assisting in the preparation, delivery and follow-up of workshops, expert group meetings and training sessions.
  • Helping maintain and further develop evaluation-related databases and digital resources used by Member States and the European Commission.
  • Conducting background research, data processing and preparatory analysis.
  • Contributing to internal coordination and project reporting tasks.

You will need

  • A university degree (minimum bachelor), preferably in agriculture, rural development, environment, evaluation, economics, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated interest in the CAP and/or public policy evaluation.
  • Good analytical skills and a strong interest in working with data and digital tools (coding experience in R or Python would be an advantage).
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken).
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Word; experience with structured documentation is a plus.
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and well-organised working style.
  • Motivation to work in a multicultural, policy evaluation-focused environment.

Ecorys offers its employees a professional, stimulating, and learning environment with ample opportunities for development. You will work in a multicultural environment alongside a supportive team atmosphere.

The role offers a competitive remuneration package and attractive benefits. Our package includes, among other things, a homeworking allowance, meal vouchers, private health, dental, and hospitalization allowances, a collective bonus, reimbursement for home internet and mobile phone devices and subscriptions.

You will enjoy a good work-life balance and take advantage of our hybrid work policy, which allows for remote work up to 2 days per week.

We encourage interested and qualified candidates to submit their CV and a 1-page cover letter in English via our online application form by 25th July 2025.
