Our Finance team plays a central role in enabling Ecorys’ project-driven organisation to deliver high-quality work for clients across the Netherlands and Europe. With over 400 projects per year — ranging from €10k to €22 million — rigorous project control is essential to our success. The Finance Business Partner bridges the worlds of finance and operations, working closely with sector leaders to ensure projects run smoothly, on budget, and on time.

Your Role

As Finance Business Partner at Ecorys Netherlands, you are responsible for the project control of our Dutch operations. You act as a trusted sparring partner for sector leaders, helping them manage complex projects with confidence. You will lead a small team of two project controllers and report directly to the Finance Director. This is a hands-on, senior role that combines financial expertise with commercial insight, in a dynamic consultancy environment. The role is based at our Rotterdam office (3 days per week on-site).

Key responsibilities:

Act as a sparring partner for sector leaders on project finances and business decisions

• Manage budgeting, cash flow and revenue recognition for a portfolio of 400+ projects per year
• Monitor project progress and perform budget-vs-actual evaluations
• Ensure data quality of project master data and timely invoicing and hour registration
• Prepare and coordinate internal and external project audits
• Manage and coach a team of two project controllers
• Collaborate with sector leaders on delegation frameworks and financial reporting

What do you bring to the table?

• HBO+ working and thinking level, preferably in a financial or business direction
• At least 10 years of experience in project control, preferably in a consultancy environment
• Experience managing projects on both the Dutch and EU market
• Proficient in Dutch and English (written and spoken)
• Strong Excel skills and experience with Microsoft Office; knowledge of Unit4 Business World is a plus
• A proactive, communicative personality with the confidence to challenge and advise senior stakeholders
